The Asian Studies Group at Urbana-Champaign is organized by graduate students at UIUC, with the goal of creating opportunities for young scholars in various areas of Asian Studies to share their ideas with fellow students.
The IShare Research Group serves as a platform for young scholars to give lectures on topics related to Asia, present research projects, and brainstorm research proposals. It also encourages students to develop professional skills through mock teaching sessions and practice job talks. As colleagues and friends, we have much to offer and much to learn from one another.
The Asian Studies Group also organizes conferences and workshops. In 2024, the group successfully hosted the First Graduate Symposium on Asian Studies, featuring presenters from the US, China, Japan, Canada, and the UK. Presentations covered a wide range of topics, including history, literature, art, colonialism, ethnicity, and gender studies.
Looking ahead to 2025, we will be organizing a workshop on Information History. Stay tuned!
